sounds v.exciting... i wish i could be in the same position as you. if i money wasn't an issue, then i'd buy a house in westbourne park. in reality tho, if i bought property in london i'd stick with west and in zone 3.
i just secured a permanent job (a better one than before. heh) in bham and buying something in b1 is a possibility. my folks really want me to, but i'm scared of the commitment. there are so many 1/2 bedroom flats in the city centre that it's over saturated and totally lacking in character. i'd much rather save up properly and just buy a house.
anyways, good luck with it. i'm going to buy some art instead... it's a bit silly with no car or house but at least i'll have beautiful picture to call my own. |

thanks.
things got a bit fucked up in bham, i've got a few mates who lost a rather large wedge after investing there.
im a bit fucked off actually, i just bought a new car only to secure a job in the city where i wont be able to drive it. theres no point selling it now as i'd lose money on it so im stuck with it sitting on the driveway. had i been driving to work as i have been till now, it wouldnt be an issue but now its just going to cause more uncecessary costs when i'm going to be on a tight budget.
and i'm sacrificing a lot to move. a hifi upgrade, for example, which i've been wanting to treat myself too but shouldn't. although i still might. i impulse-buy too much.
i'm already falling in love with flats 50k over my budget. i'm totally fucked. |

Dude whats your budget ? I'm living in between Finchley Rd and Golders Green not far from Hampstead. Got a 3 bed house which is great. Theres some new builds going up behind me on Finchley Rd itself and wht way the markets going there might be a good deal to be had there. |

well lets say it started at 300k but the reality (for w.hampstead, anyway) is closer 400k. i rekon at a HUGE stretch i could push to 370-380.
im trying to get as close to west end road as possible, between kilburn (urgh) and finchley road.
new builds are just too expensive though, and i like the idea of a period conversion too - esp as theres more chance of getting a shared freehold. |

The mortgage products being removed only affects those who - A- have poor credit, B- have an insufficient deposit or C - are looking to borrow more than 4 times their salary.
As long as you don't fall in tot he above you will be fine mortgage wise. Why don't you just go ahead and apply for one now as banks usually honour the mortgage offer for 6 months |

Take my house, its on at 450 and its a nice sized 3 bed semi with a big garden. Its just by Finchley Rd, about 5 minutes bus ride to west end lane.
I would sit tight for now anyway, this market has not got anywhere near as shitty as its going to, and you will see things get a good biit cheaper as people strugle to sell.
Only thing is that less people will get on the market to sell as well.

thats it, i've changed my mind. again.
i'm gona hold off for about 6 months now. the london lite confidently informs me that interest rates are gona drop in the coming months, but we'll see. i'll just have to put up with living at home a little longer.
if, that is, i don't hang myself by then. |

Just some friendly advice dude.
Sorry I bothered !
Yeah check out the Hampstead scene. You always have to be on top of whats going on because you never know when the right place at the right price turns up. |

...and there i was hoping you'd want to do me :(
it still shocks me how much of a bump house prices near the city are. this 2bed flat costs more than my parents 3 bed semi about 10 miles further out of london, and my deposit alone could buy a 3 bed detatched in leicester :/ |
