you know, we never had MTV when I was growing up, so all these videos to old tunes are kinda new to me.
They were hard times. We had to wind up the grammaphone when we wanted to listen to any vinyl and it was murder mixing on them.

ahhh this banter takes me back...
my uncle in germany was the only person who we knew that had MTV, so we made him record as many Yo MTV Raps as possible. We were nuff excited when the tape was full. Then I went to Germany and got the video and bought it back to the UK. But it turned out that he had recorded it on long play and we didn't have a modern video recorder so we couldn't watch it in the end. Gutted man. |

I grew up across the road from Normski and his fat brother Kevin. He was quite cool, hip hop photographer when he started out, showing us pics of UK Fresh 86 and all that, he was the hippest dude. |

Do you remember they had a pop idol type of thing on Dance Energy, where the winners won a record deal supposedly? (The track was called 'you're an angel' so I recall in detail for some odd reason).
Anyway, if only he'd expanded his vision, he could have been in Simon Cowell's seat. But he'd probably have missed out on 5 years with Janet Street-Porter. Yo yo yo. |
