I've only ever had one bespoke suit and that was from Savile Row so cost a pretty penny and we only bothered because it was for my sister's wedding.
It takes a while to get measured properly and to go through everything down to a tee like the materials you want, colours, style of pocket blah, blah, blah.
Unless you have the time and money to burn, I'd suggest you just buy off the peg and then if need be
have it adjusted by a decent tailor.
You're looking at a bare minimum of £500-£1000 at the lower end and anywhere up to £3000 at the top end but depending on cloth, who your tailor is etc. the price can vary.
Raj Mirpuri (www.mirpuri.com) is where I send my off the pegs to be altered. |

It really depends where you go; a few places round Chancery Lane and Holborn will build you suits, but they are in the region of £800. the plus side is you get it properly tailored, you get to choose how it looks etc etc.
If you want off the peg, go somewhere decent. Aqua Scutum do quite nice suits, at around £450 (less in the sale, of course).
Stanley Ley in Holborn used to be quite good, but I've not been there for years, so don;t know how they are now.
I'm now getting suits off the peg from Ede & Ravenscroft. Cost about £650 but they are hard wearing and fit nicely.

i'm not your average size (fat), so buying off the peg isn't ideal, although getting it altered after might not be a bad option.
at £800, is that with the cheapest material?
what i'm asking is, would i get a more hard wearing suit off the peg at around 5-600 then i would bespoke at around 800ish?
i'm really regretting not getting some made up whilst i was in thailand now. |

You really are getting tied up in knots with this.
£800 will (or should, at any rate) buy you a decent built suit. The tailor will be able to help you with cloth and style. But you need to work out where to go, and finding a decent tailor can be tricky.
I would suggest you go to Ede & Ravenscroft or Aqua Scutum or somewhere like that and tell them what you want. They will show you what fits your needs. If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it. |

get a copy of GQ and look thru the ads..
to be honest, bespoke suits can look quite dull on young guys..
if youre only wearing them for work, then why bother spending more than 500 quid unless ur client facing..

if only bapey. ladyboys scare the fuck outta me.
raz, at the moment im full time on client site, hence the need. back at base i wear jeans and tshirt on a daily basis!
the reason for considering bespoke is that it'll fit better than any damn suit i've ever owned (all 3 of them), which would be a refreshing change. and also, i feel like treating myself a bit. |
