i didnt know calling nusrat fateh ali khan the 'pakistani elvis' was a regular thing in music journo circles but its seems a bit rrrrong. just cos there was nothing religious about elvis' music (and i like elvis). the bob marley of pakistan is a better analogy i reckon (cos bob was spreading the word of rastafarianism).
i was a bit shocked at how much english everyone spoke in indian school. i know they need to know it but someone i met recently said that ths current generation in india is the first who might not actualy speak any indian languages - only english. dont know if thats true or not but thats quite sad if so.
