I remember hearing about this guy several years ago and caught a bit on the radio recently re his experiments which brought it back.

Anyone else heard of this guy and his work?

He claimed that if thoughts are directed at water before it's frozen then the images of the resulting water crystals will be beautiful or ugly depending upon whether the thoughts were positive or negative.

He's never allowed proper independent studies to be done on his work though and critics claim his procedures are highly flawed.

So is there something to this or is it simply new age pseudoscientific looniness?

I believe there is definately something there, talking to water also has an affect to it, the crystals look totally different if one sample had rock music played to it and another sample had the words of love spoken to it.

Thats why when Sikhs recieve amirt (baptised) they should focus there mind and eyes on the water (amrit) whilst the prayers (which in essence are words of love for god) are recited at the same time.

Ummm can't say I've heard of this one but most eastern faiths are very big on chanting, repetitive prayers etc - I've never bought it fully but then i'm a cynic, but the claim is the vibrations brought about but such chants are not only beneficial to our mind, but the body too. I guess this is on the same path given the majority of our body is made of of water.

You needn't have asked that question after this line:

He's never allowed proper independent studies to be done on his work

True science can be replicated.

Pseudoscience cannot.

I don't know about this particular study but recently I read upon hypothesis on Homeopathic medication where the solution is diluted over many times. One scientist who claimed that water carried memory was shunned and lost his research funding then years later another French scientist is claiming that there might something true about it though it has not been substantiated.

If water has memory then perhaps this could have some significance to it.
