with this kroenke geezer, its just a case of sitting back and seeing wat happens i suppose. any investment is always welcome........transfer kitty is potentially £30m from the sales of henry, aliadiere, muamba and some extra funds made available. but hey, knowing wenger, he will possibly say, imagine how many kids i can buy with that. lol.

i aint got a clue whose comin in, but hey, wenger knows. i wouldnt mind babel and drenthe - wenger would sort those players out..............reyes? still got money to come from him aswell, but wont be that much.

hill wood hinted on some possible signings, but theres nothing really worth mentioning. the rumours surrounding babel seem to have died down, and i'm kinda glad. he's no replacement for henry. trezeguet wouldn't be a bad replacement though. proven, around the same age, should be fairly cheap. kind of a stop gap to fill the boots until the likes of walcott and bendtner step up to the plate.

as always though, we won't know of any signings untill the deal is almost done. wenger always plays his cards close to his chest and rarely shows his hand, the SWP saga gives him good reason to do so

its so frustrating sitting around, checking the skysports rss feed waiting for even the smallest titbit of news of a possible transfer.

the latest is we're going head to head with the scum over yet another young player. this time its the nigerian Ogbuke. small fry though. he's had a good season so far but he is at lyn oslo. should just let the yiddos take him like they did with that donkey zakora.

capello's out of the job however, possible replacement for wenger when he goes next summer? i might be jumping the gun a bit, but im fairly sure wenger will be off next summer, and capello is a more than worthy replacement...

we deffo need a right back. 2 players in each position, esp so in full back positions cos of the amount of running they do, so they cant play every game. eboue is injury prone too. and hoyte isnt quite the quality back-up we need.

leftback we have traore as back up who looks very solid for his age. in a year or so he should be ready to step in. i guess gallas can fill in there sometimes when needed while we wait for traore.

future managers of arsenal:
tony adams if he manages to prove himself as a manager.

what u lot think of O'leary as a future arsenal manager? i think he did really well at leeds with a bunch of kids considering it was his first managing job i think? messed up at villa tho, but was stuck with a poor squad not able to sign anyone. even o'neil was struggling to get much out of villa before he was able to sign some players.

true, but sagna will want a first team place, and eboue has earnt the right to be number 1 in that position. i think hoyte is more then capable as back up, more so than traore who to me doesn't seem up to scratch just yet. we have gallas, but i'll put money on him jumping ship next season.

tony adams even after another year as no.2 at pompy (or has he left there?) would still not be ready. its a huge job and we need someone proven to take the spot.

i think i'd cry if we got O'leary.

Arsenal sign record breaking 16m Da Silva! (altho its gotta be a performance based fee like reyes/theo)

wow. what a fee for someone from a weak league like that . altho he has shown he can cut it in big games at international level. altho they said its undisclosed fees, some papers are reporting 16m as their guess.

brazilian player, who changed to croation nationality 5 years ago. born in, and spent 15 yrs in brazil. the last 9 in croatia.

he seems to have it all. pace, close control. left footed but pretty good with the right too. decent header too. has a nice touch too. and decent passer too. very all round. incredible scoring record. and very consistent scorer too. scored 32 i think, in 34 games in croation league. 7 goals in 12 internationals too.

if he can give us 20 goals in the league this season, we wont miss henry. and hopefully his all-round finishing allows us to play with more flexibility too, allowing more crosses etc.

i'm not convinced. i saw him play against us in the CL early stages, either last season or the season before. thats prob where wenger saw him too.

16m is a lot of money for:

1 - a player unproven in a proper league. 34 in 32 means nothing when you talk about a league such as that
2 - a croatian. remember our last croatian? davor suker. what a buy he turned out to be
3 - wenger's big buys never work out, henry aside (even though he was only 10m-ish)

i do hope it's not a panic buy, but it bears all the signs. buying a player for that money means he needs to perform, and we need henry-esque goal tallies too.

i'm not getting a hard on just yet until i see him play in arsenal colours...

"I think the transfer is worth €24million (£16.25million) from the money Arsenal got after selling Henry to Barcelona," said Barisic.

the dude at zagreb isn't actually saying they recieved 16m, just poking the fire. we'll prob never find out, i don't ever remember a time when arsenal have disclosed a transfer fee. but i'd feel better if we didn't spend that much. skysports seem to think it was closer to 8m

sagna looks to be heading this way now, at £6m it seems. its an interesting move from wenger, seeing that he's a quality full back and as far as i'm concerned we have good first team full backs in eboue and clichy...

sagna prefers the right so im thinking maybe we could push eboue into midfield. he certainly loves to get forward and his defensive game isn't the best. and rumours still floating around about freddie moving on.. i think theres still a lot of movement to come from the club this summer

I’m away for the start of the new season unfortunately but in all seriousness from third downards it should be a corker.
I do think united are the clearest favourites in a long time for the title, espically if they get Tevez, I think they might well be untouchable in the league. Chelsea will snore themselves to second place again.
Liverpool quite frankly I still think will be quite boring and one-dimensional and I have a feeling(don’t know why ) that Torres might be a bit of a flop but they’ll probably get third.

Spurs/Woolwich for fourth place, I can’t really see the likes of Newcastle, Blackburn etc quite challenging yet, if there is one who might it will probably be Bolton just because they have the best striker outside the top five or so teams in Anelka..some might say Macarthy or Owen, but I don’t think either of them want to be at their respective clubs

top 3 is set in stone i think, although i'm praying that torres flops!

as for challengers for 4th, the spuds are the only ones getting close. bolton will be interesting though, newcastle will scrape their way into the top half of the table and the fans will bitch that for a "big club" it aint good enough. i'd like to see reading make europe though, being that i work outside the madjeski i've got a certain fondness for them.

what im hoping for though, is that now there is no henry, some of the other players won't be afraid to have a go for goal. our big problem last season was our finishing, maybe not having henry around will shake the squad up a bit and some of the players (midfielders mainly) will fix up and get some more goals.

Can’t see that, we are a better side than the Woolwich, first XI and squad wise, we just need consistency. I would probably take your midfield above ours, with Fabregas but having said that I think Zokora will be a real force this season, but that’s it.Yep Bent is overpriced but he’s proven in the premiership and has got the goals even in a shit team and last season in an injury hit campaign, I’d have him over any of your strikers, not that I’ve heard of any of your strikers anyway.Besides he’s third/fourth choice at best so its not a bad back-up to have espically when we can afford to spend the big bucks unlike you : ) It would be nothing short of failure if we finished below you as quite simply we are better and it would be a sackable offence IMHO if we didn’t finish fourth at the very least and Jol would have to go.
Tbh I would have targeted Liverpool as well just because they are so one-dimensional but I think they will improve slightly this season and wrap up third though well behind Chelsea and United.
This top four thing is nonsense, Liverpool and the Woolwich finished closer in points to Portsmouth than they did to Chelsea so apart from the CL qualification the reality is they are a world apart from the top two who are unfortunately an elite force on their own.
As for this pallacio bloke, didn’t read it in the sun(not my type of paper), got it on a press feed at work , apparently its been said in Argentina. However good or bad a player it doesn’t make a difference as he’s not good enough to keep you in the CL spots.

zakora - hmm, i did expect good things from him when he signed, but he was shite last season and i cant see him getting any better. our midfield is good until we hit the wings, with rosicky the only one really performing for us down the flanks.

darren bent is your 3rd/4th choice forward? are you kidding? nobody spends that money on a bench player. expect to see him up top with berbatov all season, with defoe saying bye bye.

as for the whole top 4 debate, i totally aggree with you. united and chelsea right now are a world apart from us and the scouse, but that CL spot is all important, as you boys should know, seeing as how you've been trying oh so hard to get one ({)

First point about Zokora being shit, absolute rubbish I’m afraid. Had a slow start but he was outstanding in the second half of the season, the way he takes the ball forward from midfield and runs with it is something we have been lacking for years, his passing is very good as well, the only thing he needs to work on is his shooting but we have been crying out for that sort of midfielder for years, he can and will get better, far more dynamic and creative than Gilberto and stronger as well. Not really sure where you got that he had a shit season from but I’m sure you will bow to my better and more informed judgement on that one : )Though I would say fabregas has the edge over him, though I doubt Fabregas will be there for more than another season or two, his head has been turned and he’ll be off. Tbh with Lennon on one wing, bale and Tarabbt coming thru we have the edge over you there as well. Though of course with Tarabbt there shouldn’t be any pressure on him too early. Rosicky isn’t too bad, got no idea about anyone else. Ljunberg’s best days are behind him.

With Darren bent again you are totally wrong, rightly or wrongly Keane and Berbatov are the first choice strikeforce, though I still think it should be Defoe ahead of Keane. So he is at the most third choice, though imho fourth. We can spend that type of money for a bench-warmer because quite simply we have the cash and you don’t. You’re in a pauper’s position and can’t even compete with the West Hams, Man Citys and Newcastles of this world in terms of finances, that may change but at present that’s the reality. As for Defoe he has already issued a statement stating that he won’t go anywhere this season, he has 2 years left so we may choose to sell him but tbh he won’t get into the top three teams, United, Chelsea or Liverpool(bearing in mind he has turned Liverpool down twice), and the clubs where he would be first choice simply aren’t good enough for a player of his talent. What I can see is berbatov being rested on occasion and Bent coming in but needless to say we have four strikers who are all proven premiership quality and I don’t think there is a team in the top flight that can say that. If you’re looking for a striker you’re welcome to take Mido though.

Agreed, I would personally say its hot air but theres a few reputable ITKs who seem to think there is something in it, he’s a good little player but he’ll take time to adjust and he is certainly no Tevez or Saviola.
I wouldn’t trust Sky Sports the amount of times they muck up with news is untrue, Beeb is the best but tbh by the time it breaks there you will know anyway : )

and i cant believe you think your first 11 is better than ours. ur squad certainly has more depth. but more numbers doesn't automatically mean better. you only have to look at what our 2nd squad did in the carling cup as proof.

lehmann vs robinson - fairly equal id say.

eboue vs chimbonda - eboue wins here
toure/gallas vs king/dawson - king is quality. altho reliable & dependable, dawson isnt at the quality of toure or gallas.
clichy vs Young-Pyo - lol

hleb vs lennon - lennon wins hands down
gilberto vs zokora - id say zokora slightly better.
fabregas vs jenas - lol
rosicky vs umm i dunno who... tainio?

strikers its hard to compare as they differ too much to make a proper comparison. we havent got a berbatov or keane type player. and you dont have an adebayor or persie type player. and i aint seen eduardo play yet.

i agree with reelist about bent. even if he doesn't start the season up there with berbatov, he will quickly move up the place to get there and he'll be used with berbatov in the big games i reckon. he's your best finisher, you'd be a fool to leave him out in ur biggest games against the top sides.

ok, first of all, who the fuck is Tarabbt? and whats with the bloody essay?! i had to go for a piss break inbetween!

4 top class strikers? you have one in berbatov. keane is shite, and defoe has never fulfilled the promise he showed years ago. maybe due to not getting a chance, but that aint gona change anytime soon, is it? and bent, well, wait and see. but don't give me that bullshit baout spending that kinda money on a bench player cos you have the money! where has all the dough come from anyway? you don't have a huge stadium to generate enough revenue, nor did you get into the CL. you got big backers or something?

if you don't make 4th, and i doubt you will, then jol is on his way. esp given the money hes spent this summer. although i guess thats a good thing in your eyes? you've never been much of a fan have u?

its a shame about lennon though, he could be so much more if he joined a bigger club, and i have no doubt he probably will eventually. but fair play on sticking around at the club who made him who he is.

whether we have the money or not, it's irrelevant. every single big buy wenger has made, aside from henry, has flopped. and even then henry was only 10m. i put more trust in the younger unknown's he signs then the reyes, jeffers and richard wright's of this world.

“Whats with the essay”, fortunately for me I don’t indulge in all day cyber flirting with faceless randoms so when I get a bit of time I can write something constructively on one thread rather than indulge in a who’s poked who on facebook thread in the wild hope that some bird might have answered back, you know how it is : ).
Tbf Reelist if you think Keane is shit I’m not sure what planet you are on, he’s consistently scored goals in the premiership year in year out, as well as at international level against top class competition. Defoe and Bent in terms of premiership are top draw I’m afraid, both have scored more than the likes of Eddie Ping Pong and I have no idea of any of your other players anyway. As for the money its self generated, yes we have rich backers, we take more money than the likes of Liverpool etc on matchday, plus our merchandising income and the money we have received from tv deals doesn’t go back to any debt that we may have. Basically we are a self-generating club with rich backers, you are in debt and don’t have rich backers, your only asset is Arsene Wenger. Lennon, move to a bigger club, well as he is at the best supported club in London and most successful London club side in Europe there’s not many options left for him in England is there. Sorry mate that’s just bitterness from your point of view as you watch the scum decline. Again I’m right and you’re wrong. I’m curious to see how you know so much about our players when you ain't got a season ticket at your own club and probably see even less of Spurs though? You might as well just bow to my superior judgement, as I’ve said many a time Gooners never get the better of Spurs. We’ll make fourth we are the fourth best team around, I can’t see anyone challenging us, the one thing I would say is that Wenger is abetter manager but we have the personnel. Sorry about the essay as you term it, I hope you can control that troublesome bladder of yours in the meantime son, maybe you should get a doctor to check it out. It seems a trifle worrying for you, especially as I’m guessing you’re not in your 60s.

For Neo
Lehman vs. Robinson, I’d say Lehman wins there
Eboue vs. Chimbonda, Chimbonda without a shadow of a doubt
Clichy vs Lee Young Pyo, Clichy is shit, Pyo is better, but in Bale we have a prospect more exciting than Clichy will ever be.
Toure vs King, King by a fucking country mile and a half and probably several furlongs. Toure is shit
Gallas vs Dawson, if it was Gallas at Chelsea I’d say Gallas, but Gallas at the scum doesn’t even want to be there, I’d take Dawson, not to mention our back-up kaboul who is better than any shit you have got
Gilberto vs Zokora –Zokora everytime
Fabregas vs jeans, Fabregas but Jenas is a good player, look at the goals he scores, arguably more than any Woolwich midfielder and the energy he has and you know what I mean,. Again Ne-Yo this is probably the advantage of being a match going fan rather than an armchair/internet one as you’re knowledge is limited to hearsay : ), its just one of those advantages I have over you
Rosicky vs malbranque, probably Rosicky there, but Tarrabt is going to be huge. Again as you don’t know much about football you probably ain’t heard of him but again that’s another advantage of going to matches we can see more about whats going on :P

Absoulute cop out with the strikers, apart from Van Persie (when a girl says no molest her) your strikers are absolute dog-shit not surprising for a club that has given the world the likes of Alan Smith and Alan Sunderland and Perry Groves. Ours are a class above yours. I’m quite intrigued to know how Bent is our best finisher when we have two strikers who have scored more goals than him in the premiership. He’s a good player and he’ll undoubtly get even bigger at a club like Spurs. Why exactly would it be foolish to leave him out when he had a goal-scoring partnership that scored well over 40 goals last season. Good one ne-yo, I think pining over that married bird has sent you over the edge finally son, you should have just stuck to your sexy love :P

Again sorry about the “essay” although it is hardly that but at the end of the day I can’t let you pesky little mites get ideas above your station again, you can go back to the cyber flirting again son : ) I hope you’ve at least got a few numbers from all that effort

christ, where do i begin?!

i'll just ignore and brush past all the petty remarks about facebook/cyber-what do u call it, and get straight down to the football, yes?

lets start with keane, you yourself have slagged him off in the past, you've changed your tune now though, how comes?
without digging too much into the financials of it all, where has all the transfer funds come from this season? you have never spent like this in the past? according to the beeb your signings total almost £30m. now compared to another side of your statue, lets say, bolton (consistently in uefa, simmilar sized stadium etc), thats a hell of a lot of money to be splashing out with, so where has all that come from?

and, if wenger is our biggest and only asset, what are yours?!

the remainder of that post that was aimed at me is just general yiddo blag so i won't bother with that at all.

except for this: can i add you to facebook?

i dunno where you got keane/berba scoring more prem goals than bent.

over the last 2 seasons, bent has scored 31 in 68. keane 27 in 63.

berbatov 12 in 33 last season (bent-13/32, keane-11/27)

apologies for boring you with numbers.

we showed who's better last season. we beat you 3-0 at emirates. drew at your ground. and embarrassed you 5-3 (agg) in the carling cup semi with our 2nd string :|

as well finishing above you in the league, if that ain't proof of who's better, i dont know what is.

you may use the consistency excuse, but arsenal were far from consistent themselves.

Bloody hell I got to write another "essay" again because the of the crap from the part-timers
its times liek this u wish you boys actually got off the keyboard and down tto the actul club to see if you could hold your own then.

reelist of course I have slagged Keane off in the past, he's a cunt but still a good player just not as good as Berbatov or Defoe. I don't like the bloke and he's keeping out a better player.Lol how can u compare Bolton to Spurs,do they get the same revenue as, do they have the same fan base as us, stadium revenue is not alone, and are their owners billionares like ours. Sorry mate you are talking absoulute rubbish, botherer is no way teams like Bolton and yourselves can compete with us financially. I'm guessing you;re not in finance because youseem to have a very simplistic view of things,so these numbers are above you because you seem to think stadium revenue is a massive player, comapred to tv money, a sponsorshi[ deal which is worth a lot more than yours, merchandising, marketing outside. So again I ask you how exactly are we similar to Bolton, not to mention Bolton's capacity is a lot below ours and we are expanding our stadium to over 55,0000. So I think that subtle dig has been put well and truely to bed. "We have never spent anything like this inte past", nope we have spent badlty,we've always been rich, if you know your history Spurs have always been big spenders because we are the rich london glamour club the stakes have been raised and we've now finally stepped up to the mark. Unfortunately football didn't begin ten years ago..the true entertainers are back and you can stay in the background.
And it wasn't petty, you asked where I got the time for an essay I merely pointed out that on the rare occasions I come on barfi, apologies if I hit a raw nerve I only come to put yourself and ne-yo down. But of course u can add me.

Ne-yo I never said Keane and Berbatov did I, i said two strikers who have scored more goals in the premiership than Bent, over a number of seasons, one is Keane..., and also there goals per game ration is better than Bent.

I agree in one off games against the scum we didn't play well, but thats down to consistency you played above yourselves and it wasn;t your second string I'm afraid thats utter bullshit ypour second string played ina reserve match the night before if those two results had gone the other way we would have finished ahead of you, we lost one game in febuary and were more competitive in cup competitions as well. ThSince then you have lost your best player, and have two who want to go.

And yes Wenger is your only asset, you're a club built on fallacies I'm afraid. This myth you play amazing football, this myth that you are aa massive club when you have won less euriopean trophies than West Ham, the myth that you are massively well supported when you sell tickets two to three months before a game and can't sell out your away allocations.
You didn't even know that you had made a bid for Pallcio, I had to break that here. so you can't expect me to take your views seriously, I'd say last year Chelsea were the best team in the league interms of quality but United got the results. Last year hyyou were slightly better than us in personnel but you aren't shit this season, you know it, I know it.
Ne-yo I've said ti before and I've said ti again, you need to get off that armchair and start visitng the stadiums and watching the footy to get a mrore accuarate view instead of spouting rubbish oin a thread on a website

Glad to re-educate you agin lads

I appreciate it comes with being Spurs but it gives teams an extra incentive. Its actually an interesting duel. Spurs or Arsenal?

Both teams have had significant change. bent, henry aside, with Spurs getting:

Gareth Bale, Younes Kaboul, Adel Taarabt

and arsenal bolstering their attack on top of what they already have, both teams will take time to gel. if arsenal (or spurs AND liverpool for that matter) get off to a consistent good start who knows where arsenal and spurs will end up.

this year, it will be all about who beats the bigger teams i.e. spurs vs arsenal, manchester united vs liverpool vs chelsea.

i hope newcastle get relegated.

when we play well, we comfortably beat the likes of man utd, liverpool, even juventus and real madrid (over TWO LEGS). and who knows what would have happened vs barcelona if they didn't have a man advantage over us. (we haven't beat chelsea for a while)

No we don't beat man united, or liverpool because they are better than us simple, we don't beat you because we played shit., please don't compare yourselves to Man United, quite frankly you are belittling a far superior club's achievements last season. And how do we know if we scrape draws or not you don;t even goto your own team's matches let alone Spurs ne-yo, so you can't have an informed opinion. We beat Chelsea because we played very well and even though Chelsea played brilliantly on the day our effort got us through. What's this "we" you go on all the time

arsene wenger sums up last season analytically...

"I think there are two things that summed up last season. First, if you make a table of the results against the other teams in the top four, then we are top. Then if you make a table against the teams in the top half, Manchester United have 43 points, we have 40, so do Chelsea, and Liverpool have 33.

"That shows that we lost the championship against teams in the bottom half of the table. So that is where we will have to be much more efficient this season. We have to be consistent in our mental preparation, in our ruthlessness as well.

"There are plenty of positives to take from last season. The mental strengths of my team are clear: we were behind in more games than anyone else but kept coming back. We lost only one game when we were leading - and that was against Chelsea in the Carling Cup Final.

"We scored 21 goals in the final 15 minutes of league games. The next highest was 15 or 16 so we are by far the most efficient team in the last 15 minutes. All of that tells you that we have a mixture of mental strengths, of potential, but that there is also a naivety, and sometimes we have not been ruthless enough when we could have killed games off. It is these two ingredients which have to be improved."

interesting about eboue. i agree, we need a top quality winger. none of those 4 are established quality wingers. rosicky is the best and its not even his best position either. i wonder why we didn't get ribery. maybe wenger felt he wasn't worth the £17m or so bayern paid.

i think all this ecclestone stuff is just a smokescreen to raise the price or to give some competition to kroenke.

So the Woolwich barfi fringe (Reelist,Ne-Yo and GHDs), my pesky little chums, another day, another Woolwich “legend” puts your club down, this time it’s the Ljunberg. Things must be getting really bad if he thinks he can do better at the Canning Town Bingo and Social Club rather than The Woolwich Institute for Sex Cases don’t you think?
Having said that there’s correlation between the two clubs
Both are of a similar size and stature (though it can be argued that with the Canning Town’s superior record in Europe they are slightly more proven on the biggest stage),
Both have moronic, bitter, twisted fans with a chip on their shoulder (Though at least the Canning Town support is loyal during the bad times unlike the Woolwich),
Both are unbelievably obsessed with the neighbouring, more glamorous THFC, which may explain the chip on the shoulder and the delusion of their fans,
Both are managed by mongs,
Both have had their talismanic player leave them (Okay technically Tevez is still a Spammer),
Both get cunted off by their “legends” as soon as they move onto bigger and better things, for Henry, Ljunberg, Ian Wright, Viera read Tevez,Lampard,Reo-Coker,Ince etc
Maybe Freddie hasn’t realised he’s left at all.

It might be worth the Woolwich and Canning Town having a merger, at the end of the day things can’t get much worse

Oh yeah and ne-yo that’s bollocks about attending games and not knowing fuck all, how can you know about another team when you don’t even go and see your own team play it makes no sense.
At the end of the day someone who goes to games knows more than someone who doesn’t you might not like it but you’ll have to lump it old chap, you don’t have the insight that others do. You’re a few rungs down the food chain with newsnow and downloading sopcasts or other such boring rubbish, you can’t get an informed opinion. At the end of the day I know more about the Woolwich than you!
Then again GHDs claims he has a season ticket but then gets the most basic of facts wrong so maybe its particular to the Woolwich
