Isn't that exactly what one does if he/she turns to take a condascending view of "typical" Asians?

So many people think they're unique in that they forego listening to Bhangra/ studying Law; Medicine; IT/ living in Southall yet do these people not join the masses alongside them?

Why do such people then constantly slate anyone they feel fits into this classification?

The Fuckers!

But it's been happening to me lately and quite frankly it becomes monotonous.

Yes, I happen to love Gurdas Mann; yes, I am applying to read Law; no, I do not know who/what/where The Streets are; I haven't had the pleasure of dating a black man... SO FUCKING SHOOT ME!

The monotony goes both ways. People hate to be stereotyped because it makes us feel less unique.

The worst feeling in the world is to know that people think you're the same as everyone else.

Is there someplace one can go to ascertain appropriate street vernacularism so that in future, God forbid, I don't perpetrate such unseemly improprieties?

I replied "Tim and them lot"

He laughed.

I enquired as to why my response proved so amusing- to which he so eloquently retorted "Dem lot are all goreh, innit?"

"Well, with a name like Tim Brunton I suspect he may be white, yes. Is that a problem?"

"Nah man just we're all goin Schemer. Oh and Blazer's bringin' his boys down."

"Blazer? Is that his christian name or..." and you can imagine how the rest of the conversation went on.

Point is, my pal Rav found it amusing that I socialise with white people, while his company only consists of Black people.
Is this normal? Or have I unwittingly floundered the rules of Asian savvy, yet again?

lol, oh yeh...but that i think is a very minor phenomenon, higlighted by the likes of eminem. i dont think its anywhere near as apparant as they way it is with asians trying to be black

also...i reckon part of the reason asians will never associate themselves with whites, or think its uncool etc etc is because a lot of them are too narrowminded to see past the two main stereotypes they have of white English people, this being:
a) chav/council estate type
b) lord of the manor type

both of which are associated as having racist tendencies...

now if asians realised that there is more to white ppl than the above two categories, then we wouldnt get people like your eloquent friend 'rav' who u quoted above...(and trust me i've met many a rav type in my life too, sad but what can we do?)
