12:21pm, 2nd May 2008    Call to Arabs on Palestinian aid

How sad. Countries actually pledge to give to their fellow Muslim brothers and sisters in Palestine money to aid their suffering, then don't deliver.

Seems the 'Ummah' is asleep.

Gaza has faced fuel shortages for months

The Quartet of major powers mediating in the Middle East peace process has called on Arab states to honour aid pledges to the Palestinians.

The call was made after talks in London between the UN, US, EU and Russia.

US officials say only about a fifth of money promised by Arab nations in December has been paid.

US officials say that of $717m promised by Arab League members, only $153m of Arab pledges have been delivered, all from three countries: Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Algeria."

I concur... beinng busy spouting all that aggressive hyperbole towards Israel and it would appear as if the Arabs have forgotten how to support their own kind along the way, eh?

Aside from Jordan, that is.

But giving aid would mean the plight of the Palestinians may just improve and we can't be having that can we. What would we blame the jews for then.

Interesting to note Kuwait gave America FIVE HUNDRED MILLION dollars post-Katrina as aid. Wonder what they've given to their bros in Gaza.

Well I can't exactly sit on my high horse and denounce the lack of follow through the Arabs have shown after making grand pledges of aid to the Palestinians.

Many pledges are rarely backed up by Governments across the world for a great many number of causes: little of what was promised to the Pakistanis was actually delivered in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in the country, for example, from Britain, the United States and other Western European countries.
