The big losers in Iraq are the Americans and the Sunni's.
America has wasted 4,000 lives and up to $2 trillion; with that money and manpower, they couldve stamped out generational problems like crack and gang violence across their own cities. But nooooooooo, they had to sail 8,000 miles across the world for a right pasting. 5 years later, America is still bogged down in shootouts with bandits and ragtags. The Iraqi's still dont want them in their country. If the Americans leave, the terrorists will follow them and Iraqis will kill each other on an industrial scale. How they can honor their airforce pilots and soldiers with medals, parades and neat obituaries, for having dropped bombs on non-combatants, but vilify unemployable clerics, surviving on welfare handouts, for encouraging young men to blow themselves up in defiance and resistance, is beyond me.
The Iraqi Sunni's have thrown in their lot with Islamic fundamentalism and where has it got them ? They got their butts kicked by the Shia, they have been excluded from Iraqi politics, nobody wants to have anything to do with them and non-Sunni's are determined to churn them out of Iraq's oil riches. If the Sunni's just took a chill pill, then Im pretty sure the Americans will improve their pathetic lives with electricity, water and petrol. You cant be blamed for slaughtering your occupier but you can bomb and shoot up your shithole and your countrymen as much as you like, but when your occupiers leave, hopefully one day, you still have to go on living with your countrymen in that shithole.
You know what really pisses me off, are the neoconservatives in Washington and Muslims around the world, esp. the Pakistani rabble rousers in the UK. They talk about what's best for Iraq and Iraqi's like they own the fucking place. Hey, Ive got ten words for you, GET OFF YOUR COUCH AND FIND A FUCKING J-O-B, PLEASE.
Iraqi's are like a sandwich, between the vengeful Muslim world and the smug democratic West.
