An attack on Islam and Muslims in Britain

Some of you may have seen News Night tonight Wednesday 12th December 2007. Those of you who haven’t will hear of the program soon. The BBC has uncovered a massive fraud by a leading independent think tank (Policy Exchange) which recently published the largest report about Muslims and Britain ever. The report focuses on the alleged spread of extremist Islamic literature within these masjid’s.

The report alleges that from 100 masjid’s that it investigated 26 had extremist literature being sold by the masjid’s. A report by the BBC has found that the receipts (proof of sales) that these allegations are based on are forgeries.

Specialists forensics teams established that some of the receipts were written for two masjid’s 10 miles away from each other and yet had been written by the same person, others for two masjids 40 miles apart from each other had been written at the same place at the same time, as one receipt had engraved into it the text/content of the other receipt that was written placed above it. On some of the receipts they even found the addresses to be incorrect and the receipts to be printed from inkjet printers rather than laser printers (which are commercially used). In one instance the word “centre” was actually spelt “center” on the forgery.

It is evident that the fraud has taken place and that the names of these masjid’s has been maligned and furthermore they have been put in danger from retribution attacks because of these false allegations. The mosques involved are listed on pages 28,29 & 30 of the report by Policy Exchange entitled; The hijacking of British Islam. The report can be found on PDF format at this link;

http://www.policyexchange.org.uk/images/libimages/307.pdf

It continues to give details of the masjid’s including their full addresses and contact details and lists allegations against them for the next 120 pages.

The masjid’s are from the following cities;

Rochdale, Bolton, Oxford, Leicester, Manchester, Bury, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Blackburn, Bradford, London and High Wycombe.

The ones with allegations against them are highlighted in blue in these reports. What I’d suggest is that anyone based in these cities, who knows where these masjid’s are and even prays at them, to contact them either directly or via councillors or elders within the community and urge them to take Policy Exchange to court and take legal action against them with both civil and criminal lawsuits.

Anyone who isn’t at one of the affected masjid’s or cities towns, should at least inform their own masjid about what is going on and ask them to liaise with these other masjid’s to offer support in the case. We muslim’s have plenty of lawyers, and plenty of people, £1 or two from everyone towards to the legal costs of running the case collected by our local masjid’s and channelled into a fund will go a long way to bringing these criminals to justice.

I would also urge all Muslim’s not to get hot headed about this and to avoid making and imflammatory or angry statements or to physically harm anyone involved in Policy Exchange of any of it’s affiliates. We need to be sensible about this, we have an open and shut case, we can easily win this, all we need is mobility to make an example of this group and their agenda in a court of law.

These people have targeted innocent muslim’s with lies, they have tried to ruin reputations and have endangered human beings in the process. They have no disregard for muslim’s or non muslim’s in Britian. In many cases the masjid’s accused have actually been those who work with the government to reduce the threat of terrorism and extremism in Britain.

The efforts you and me make every day, the way we always have to think twice and try to justify everything we say and double check each step to ensure that we are presenting ourselves correctly, we do that because these people have stereotyped us and slandered us. They try to ruin our simple existence as proud British citizens, it’s time we stood side by side with the British justice system and held these people to account.

Feel free to email this on to other people, to create petitions and add it to social networking groups, other websites, print it out and pass it to friends and put it on notice boards within community centres, we need to take action, we need to move as a community. How much longer will we sit back and accept broadsides at us?

'Disastrous misjudgement?'
Peter Barron 13 Dec 07, 10:28 AM Last night on Newsnight, Dean Godson of the think tank Policy Exchange accused me personally (watch it here) of making a "disastrous editorial misjudgement" and of "appalling stewardship of Newsnight". I think I should respond to that.

Mr Godson was responding to Richard Watson's investigation (watch it here) into Policy Exchange's recent report - entitled "The Hijacking of British Islam" - which accused several leading mosques of selling extremist literature.

In October Newsnight had been due to run an exclusive report on the findings and Policy Exchange had given us the receipts to corroborate their claim that a quarter of the 100 mosques their researchers had visited were selling hate literature.

On the planned day of broadcast our reporter Richard Watson came to me and said he had a problem. He had put the claim and shown a receipt to one of the mosques mentioned in the report - The Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre in London. They had immediately denied selling the book and said the receipt was not theirs.

We decided to look at the rest of the receipts and quickly identified five of the 25 which looked suspicious. They appeared to have been created on a home computer, rather than printed professionally as you would expect. The printed names and addresses of some of the mosques contained simple errors and two of the receipts purportedly from different mosques appeared to have been written by the same hand.

I spoke to Policy Exchange to try to clear up these discrepancies but in the end I decided not to run the report. This is not because I "bottled" it as Mr Godson suggests, but because I did not have the necessary level of confidence in the evidence presented.

In the days that followed we focused further on the five receipts about which we had concerns and eventually asked a forensic scientist to analyse them. This is what we found.

1. In all five cases the mosques involved said the receipts did not belong to them.

2. The expert analysis showed that all five had been printed on an inkjet printer - suggesting they were created on a PC.

3. The analysis found "strong evidence" that two of the receipts were written by the same person.

4. The analysis found that one of the receipts had been written out while resting on another receipt said to be from a mosque 40 miles away.

Mr Godson says he stands by his report 100%. I also stand by our report 100%. I don't think we can both be right.

So has you faith in the bbc been restored platinum 786?

If they report something which is critical of Pakistan(is), or Muslims you are quick to shout 'British Bullshit network'/'propagada'/'bias'

Yet you now accept this piece of journalism as gospel? You can't have it both ways, wither the BBc is a competent and trustworthy news source or it ain't.

Nevertheless, if these allegations are proven to be true (and they did look pretty accurate) then its obviously damning evidence and I was surprised the head of policy exchange even tried to defend himself.

Right so you trust their reporting, as long as it fits your political agenda....nice one.

coincidentally, did you support newsnight's report not too long ago on the ch4 'undercover mosque' pro gramme where they backed ch4, and found allegations that ch4 edits were misleading people, were groundless?

West Midlandds police reported that particular situation to Ofcom, i know that West Midlands police are better placed to make a judgement on whether a crime has been commited or not rather than aTV program.

I rate every event upon it's own individual merits as most open minded people would. In this instant, blatent information has been uncovered by newsnight, this should be taken to the police by those involved and justice done.

Settle down there Zorro. Firstly, it would a totally dumb person to believe most of the hype centered around Muslims that's in the news lately. The stories are so outlandish that its hard for me to think that people would believe that ish.

Second, regardless of what you want to own up to - there is some twisted mentalities within the religion - specifically the Paki Mentality which is notoriously effective of recent in honour killings.

Even though this and the dispatches report on extremism within mosques is a bunch of hogwash, there are still some issues that need to be addressed probably by the community leaders.

Anyways, I do think the mosques that were named should bring about a class action lawsuit against these people for defamation.

So what if the handwriting was the same for the receipts, it could be one organisation travelling to these mosques selling the material- DUH!
